Train travel is exceptionally underrated. Air travel, by comparison, is barbaric.
Agreed. Train travel is much more civil. But they need to figure out the speed and number of stops.

Stopping and starting a billion ton machine every 15 minutes is flawed engineering.
You just have to pick the right train for what you want. Intercity trains hardly stop at all.
