What does MEV stand for? I thought it was the first one, but it looks like that's being memory holed.

That’s what crypto bros do
Is it Miner or Maximal?
I remember it being “miner” in the first place. Kinda weird though as it was in regards to Ether which already moved to PoS by the time this term appeared, so technically there were no miners there.
It’s a messy world 😄
In POS block producers can also be called miners no?
I'm with nostr:npub1ldsmj0vxfe8sawnkdwu92medcqnzar5c2qfw9xazs5yd65sx0kvqghzsk3 on "block producers" and "miners" being interchangeable but also think MEV was a thing before the switch to PoS.
I could be wrong - not following Ethereum drama much
Triggered by this article, the term 'Maximal extractable value' doesn't make any sense to me...
It used to be “miner” but when ethereum moved to proof of stake that no longer made sense since there aren’t miners any more. Maximum or maximal is more inclusive of both proof of stake and proof of work protocols.
Maximal extractible value just sounds to me like what shitcoiners talk about before launching their shitcoin
“Ok boys, how do we optimize the amount of bitcoin we walk away from this pump and dump with?”
I’m sure it doesn’t mean that though
So the subject who was extracting doesn't exist anymore, who is extracting it now then? It sounds like a garbage term for a whole array of behaviours, both nefarious and worthy.
Not maximizing extractable value sounds like sub-optimal behaviour. But apparently its something you can go to jail for?
MEV is a plague for users from my limited understanding of it. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. It’s funny because you hear some people propose that if the code allows for something then it is ok to do. That is ridiculous but people actually think that. This would make it very clear that that’s not the case from a legal standpoint. I wonder the impact this will have on ETH adoption in general. Maybe people will understand just how much of a shitcoin it is.
