Are centralized image loaders antithetical to nostr? Will they become trusted central servers as they scale and capture market share?

Antithetical, yes, the centralizing factor that will bring Nostr down, no.

I just mean that media moderation is not the most severe problem nostr faces. Bigger problems are moderation/centralization of search, recommendations, etc.

I tried dataurl for my avatar but only worked in iris. Maybe the protocol will develop to store, have thought of this often but can't solidify an approach.
