Were you able to order one?

Yep

I bought it! 😎

what does the device do?

can't tell by the design nor their home page

It looks like you can operate web applications just by using your voice.

It seems that you can not only learn web applications that rabbit has already learned, but also learn new ones yourself.

If you look at Keynote, there is account linkage, so it seems like you can do anything you can imagine.

hmm, it's definitely something new which i've never seen before

curious to learn more from the keynote πŸ’œ

It's a combination of LLM chatbot and their UI + ability to do things like order tickets, buy food, shop, whatever.. plus you can train it stuff. So you could hook it up to Midjourney or some other api LLM and perform those functions.

hmm, really fascinating

if you had to guess, who do you think is their target demographic with this? πŸ€”

Initially tech curious, then probably older people who may not want to mess with phones? Perhaps younger people too? I could see kids using this to avoid the constant gluing to the screen. It's more of a toy than a serious productivity device at this point unless they release new stuff later (very likely).

the elderly usually have problems with eyesight, and coordination that come with old age, and show especially when it comes to tiny devices + a lot of them are tech ignorant/avoiding, so i'm really interested to see how that part of the problem will be approached and solved, especially as i've been a 1-on-1 tech consultant/advisor/support for some part of my life

Watch the keynote on their website, it's interesting.

I wasn't that impressed by the video. I like the price though!

Did you check their keynote? Looks like the they went all in on the Apple keynote playbook 😜

Pretty much every CES keynote went full Apple.

Never go full Apple.

The product design is gorgeous, the UI is cool, the use case is... boring πŸ˜…

Pretty much my initial thoughts. Ordered for novelty and to play with rather than a serious device. But who knows, things could get interesting πŸ€”

Yes, easy and relaxed playgrounds can be useful to test and build up more serious applications

Is it me or it's fully running from external server? It's just a mic and screen with amazing UX but in the back it looks more like a glorified Alexa or similar, no?

I dunno I don’t use Alexa

The product name R1, is so close to R2-D2... coincidence?
