Apple’s era is over, most ppl just don’t realize it yet. They failed to use their capital to lead in AI, and now the whole company is falling behind. Their smartest people will leave fast. Tesla will buy Apple. It won’t be easy or quick, but it’ll happen within 5 to 10 yrs. Most of your devices will run on a single system: your car, your phone, your computer, your watch and your butler (the robot).

Not sure if i see Tesla buying them yet, but 100%. They threw away the opportunity to really push AI into their massive market share. And basically pissed it away.
Before Apple dies, another company has to figure out how to make better hardware and that’s going to take a while.

Elon has shown no interest in competing in this field so far. He’s more interested in building new technologies that aims to improve humanity by x100 factors.
The only field I would see him get into could be quantum computing in relation to AI but for traditional computing, it’s not going to happen within 10 years, and we are very far from any mass market penetration for quantum computers.
He has a huge desire to build a phone.

What is his revolutionary phone going to improve over what we have today? Was there any breakthrough ideas?
I could see a path where he gets a large majority market share by building a phone which manage to bridge the device and the human through a Neuralink interface, with AI powering the software part.
He’s not going to be the only one in this market.
He’s also not going to get public funding for that.

Here is a counter argument. AI give incentives to centralisation while encryption incentives decentralisation. Both things are extremely important in the upcoming years. If apple focuses in what they do best which is their eco system and leans in on encryption letting or providing use of local run ai models and providing a suit of tools that promotes data safety I think it would be very enticing. Will they do it? Most probably not . But there is a path forward for apple. I just don’t think they will be allowed to do it
I really hope this doesn’t happen to Apple. I still believe in their creativity and potential.
