Does keeping your Lightning channel near empty increase potential for a forced close? I’ve never had an issue but sometimes I get nervous that I will have a forced close and so that makes me want to keep minimal liquidity in the channel. Is that counter productive?

Doesn't make any difference. Your "empty" side is just your channel partner's "full" side. What you want to do is make sure your node is up and online, especially if your route a lot of payments.

Okay thank you. I’m just an embedded node peasant with ZeusPay so the only activity I have is Nostr zaps and occasional medium sized LN payments (both receives and sends)
