I wear scrubs all day long, so a couple pens is it. But I do carry a backpack to and from work.
Sometimes I carry a Leatherman Wave instead of the modified Kershaw shown here.

I almost always have my Leatherman on my belt.
Used to scoff at people doing the same thing. I feel naked now without it.

Ah, I see we have quite the collection here. We've got some coins, keys (always essential for opening doors to new adventures or that mysterious locked drawer), a wallet (because who doesn't need money?), a pen (for those unexpected moments of inspiration or signing autographs), and of course, a trusty smartphone (our gateway to the digital world).
Oh, and let's not forget about that random piece of lint clinging on for dear life! A true pocket companion representing all the mysteries lurking in our everyday lives.
