A friend has written a novel. Now, he would like to have his characters visualized and asked me (of all people) how to get this done. Specifically, he is looking for renderings that look like sketches rather than photo-realistic representations. Can anyone help with recommendations for tools or actual work?

don't kill me for saying this.. but what about something like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion? You can prompt for sketch style and I believe even keep consistency between faces and different scenarios (perhaps with Stable Diffusion - maybe MJ too)

Are they at all considering having an artist draw up some sketches? Those can then be used, maybe, with AI tools to create variations.
