4yo: "But mummy, dad gave the seed of baby in your tummy! Did you swallow it?"

*Dad: opens mouth*

Mum: Shut up!

*Dad: opens mouth again*

Mum: Shutup! Shutup! *throws him out and shuts the door*

"It's not to swallow, darling. Did you know flowers and trees are mums and dads too? That's why they need pollen to be carried around by bees like we talked yesterday! They are so cute and fluffy, aren't they?😊"

*Dad still outside waiting to his talk about swallowing and bees*

Discussion

We had a proper discussion about penises and vaginas. No troublesome questions since then.

I'm not bothered by it, but still think 3 and 4 is way to early, kids in kindergarten want to tell and try everything. I'm just walking from pollinating and hope the whole thing about opposite sex clicks in larger topic - nature.

Once I told them about seed and penis, that's why we need dads, and they were laughing hard and completely dismissed the whole idea. Still too little.

We had open discussion with our small one since she started to ask. No bees, no flowers. Other children in the kindergarden are "problem of somebody else".

Same with who's bringing presents on Christmas.

My kids actually told me they believe in Jesus and Santa the same. I keep no-bs policy and we were preparing it all for Christmas together, but it's in every fairy tale and I decided not to rip it off once they clinged to the idea. They know we buy the gifts, still operate with the spirit there.

Of course it means gifts in the evening and morning after. Tiny greedy smart things.
