I recommend the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall.
The Fiat industry is garbage, including the sports industry.

Zero-drop, wide toe-box shoes. I have been wearing them for about 6 years now and my feet are stronger than ever. Barefoot and people stare. But these babies make all that thick sole, lifted heel, nonsense seem ridiculous .
I'm like 12 years in and full barefoot working from home the last 4 years. Most wide toe barefoot shoes aren't wide enough for me any more.
I never walked or ran without pain my entire life before I started. Insane that we still practice foot binding in 2024.
In the context of the photo - Altra makes shoes with a wide toe box for a natural fit. I've been wearing their sneakers on multi-day hikes for several years now. But most industry leaders makes garbage. It's great there is a lot of cottage brands and #myog movement π
Because of leg issues from birth, it was advised that I remained barefoot for as long as possible, so I didn't really start wearing shoes until I started school. My legs turned out fine btw.
I am still mostly barefoot at home, and wear barefoot shoes when I need shoes.
Some people think it's weird that my toes spread like that.
My son is following in my footsteps. π π£
Love my vibram five fingers.
Read that some time ago. Changed my entire outlook on shoes.
Agreed, great book!!
I do recommend not changing your running style mid/late into training for a distance π¬ I ran my shin bone in half, 2 weeks before a race β¦ good chance partly due to changing how I ran without building up the miles with the new style.
All good now, had to take 3 months off.
