When I was studying social media, I ultimately boiled down Facebook designing it's platform around connection and Twitter being a platform that was designed around "the message". And it's for that reason that I saw tweets on instagram, news media or Reddit.
I think despite whatever mistakes you made, you had a vision for what Twitter was supposed to be, and the way I see it now is you're closer to perfecting "the message" in the financial services sector, which these days orbits the social media/communication channels more.
You mention protocols often but the message is also an atomic unit of the internet or software itself, so it's interesting to see this journey unfold.
