The announcement by the Japanese that they will open a Toyota and Lexus factory in America should not surprise anyone. The Japanese have long had a labor shortage problem, and they are not inclined to immigrate. Last year, because of the auto industry, they had to increase immigration quotas and change the law. On the other hand, Detroit's unemployment rate is 10% and with tax cuts announced, it's a good business decision. It will be more profitable for the Japanese to manufacture in the US than at home.
Trump played it well, but it's no miracle. Biden could have gotten the same if he had just agreed to cut the corporate tax.
