Well, I found out the hard way my instant pot will only hold two tall jars and one short jar of yogurt, not two of each…

So necessity being the mother of desperate internet research, I found out you can make yogurt in a cooler!

It appears to have worked.

Went into a cooler full of water 120+ ish degrees, which eight hours later had cooled to a balmy 98.

It thickened up all right. Will find out what it tastes like soon, probably tomorrow.

i really admire this. i hope it goes well & tastes good tomorrow when you try it. if i reincarnate id like to like yogurt next time

if i get to pick. ive tried so hard & it's simply never worked out & im so into it conceptually.

This is how you recognize a Bitcoiner

I use my dehydrator as an incubation chamber. Holds temperature really well, and can be dialed in fairly precisely. And a two gallon container will fit inside, so I can make a lot of yogurt at once.

I used to use the cooler method. For more consistent results, fill it with as much hot water as you can. More thermal mass means it'll hold a steadier temperature. Wrapping the whole thing in a blanket helps, too.
