The part I don't like is that LSPs are force closing channels that users that paid 10,000 sats to open. And they have to pay again to reopen them.

Yeah that is not a great part

Sounds like very poor business management. Haven’t heard of any Zeus channels getting force closed 🤣

You know fees have to be paid, right? And they're quite expensive, both for opening and for closing. The LSP is paying these.

Right. But their model is based around preforming that service profitably, and if channels get force closed they get to do it multiple times.

The force-closes happen because they must, the Lightning protocol depends on them, there is no way around that and the underlying implementations enforce it.

I understand. Is there nothing mutiny a specific happening though? I haven’t heard of any Zeus or Phoenix channels being force closed due to the Zeus Pay feature.

I don't know. I would expect them to close on Phoenix, Blixt, Zeus too under the same conditions too, but I don't want to try.

I use Zeus, we could run the experiment on my channel if you’d like.

I’ve personally paid a lot of other Zeus invoices which is why it seems (in my experience) that the force close problem is mutiny unique.

It may be unique to LDK wallets.

I could see, if HODL invoices were a problem for LSPs, for them to not allow payments for them to flow through their nodes. Fine. Turn it off.

For payments to HODL invoices from one wallet? A direct competitor to your service? Not the best look.

I do understand that. The LSP is also making a few sats for the service.

Could the LSP choose to not force close these channels? They are private channels and aren't routed through right?
