I use Winsor and Newton Professional colors and Holbeine! Artist watercolors. Do not need many tubes. 5 to 7 are enough.

oh yeah, Windsor and Newton make really nice "watercolor pencils" which let you draw like pencil and then watercolour them into more wispy, dreamy stuff, definitely recommended to get some good fine brushes for watercolour pencils
