Everyone who thinks it's wrong to allow people to curate their own feed are missing the point that otherwise the feed is simply uninteresting or off-putting and full of people you don't want to hear from.

A protocol where billions of people can write, but no person can control what they read, is a useless protocol.

Isn't the argument central control vs "pick your own protocol"?

The latter is clearly better. Anyone who wants the former wants to control others (unresolved emotional issues)

Just facts.

Nobody has argued the former.

Except those pesky people in the goverent or shareholders or woke kids. There's more mental illness out there than you realise.

I'm not interested in debating other protocols on Nostr, as if it were just another copy of the same thing.

It is inherently different and some things that are possible on other protocols are precluded here.

And if woke kids want to come here and make themselves a safe space, that's fine. We can all choose to join their space or stay where we are or join some other space.

The whole idea behind Nostr is the lack of compulsion.

Completely agree they can have all the safe spaces they like. I don't have to associate with them and can make my own if I want to instead.

That's the whole point of freedom isn't it? You get to pick and choose what you want to do. The problem before was they were trying to make platforms into safe spaces and the platforms were centralised and homogeneous in there approach to rules and regulations.

Not everyone wants others to have the freedom to choose who to associate with.

Yes and these people are usually just narcissists and controlling psychopaths. As they don't actually have the ability to do it, they can 'want' all they like.

Exactly. User defined protocols.

You’re gonna love Nestr.

Nah, feed curation is just getting started. And that's a good thing.

Who thinks that anyway?

seems obvious.

i dont want topic x in my feed so i dont follow people who talk about x

choice and agency is the whole plot

Who’re against curating their own feeds?!
