Very important nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld dropping next week with nostr:npub13ajk3hhvqys2ev4y68jwxywgs8fsdsuk4y5gkzs874jdyrccvf5qak2yd9 on these laws and what citizens around the world can do.

But yes, deeply concerning trajectories, particularly in the EU right now, that sends messages to nations, and authoritarian regimes around the world saying “feel free to use total control against your people, we won’t bat an eye.” nostr:note1zw09c2tlsar0au8xcm2z66nes52f036mmnp8l5z6u6cqgtpkvmrse8lmkz

It is very easy to violate the rights when no one is trying to oppose.

It is easy to ban #PoW in the #EU, develop very discriminatory language in policies since just a few bitcoin miners ready to defend themselves and meet with regulators.

Same easy to put very restrictive rules for cash and p2p transactions if just a few voices are standing in defense of financial freedom and privacy rights.

But solidarity of bitcoiners and human rights defenders can make the change. We can’t do all work alone.

We need your support, guys.

We have all instruments,l in hands, but we need to act jointly.

Those people in Brussels are the criminals!

What can we do as simple citizens? I feel powerless to the litigation games that politicians play.

You can and should use your privileges and rights as EU citizen.

We need to concentrate our efforts on the three priorities to change negative language in the regulations:

1. We need support to make it as public as possible that increased AML regulation without provisions to protect privacy and financial freedoms will lead to financial exclusion, human rights violations and abuse. Individual cases of human rights violations, where banking data was abused or people were financially excluded, social use cases of #bitcoin  should be discussed as broadly as possible.

2. We need to know citizens of the EU what consequences of such regulation mean for their banking data, if someone decides to abuse it and how #bitcoin  servers a remedy for such abuses.

3. We need to change this perception by engaging with elected officials, civil society representatives, and all those with political influence.

This way, they will support our cause and help us protect our financial rights.

We at @ODFoundation are working to make this happen. But to do so, we need your all possible support.

We need you to write articles, reach out to your local officials before the vote on April 22nd, message influential journalists, help us to fundraise to conduct advocacy work and overall, become a spokesperson about the importance of legally protecting our financial freedoms.

If you have more ideas of how to help, let me know in the comments!

Will the regulators enforce this immediatly? Can this still be appealed/prevented from happening?

Yes. We still can change the situation and ask MEPs to vote against this legislation on 22nd April.
