I’ll never use a client with ads of any type.

I second that sentiment.
Sames. I'd rather pay a subscription fee.
Exactly
At least most of the clients are MIT licensed which would allow them legally to retain certain features.
I do want to clarify, I’m not against this. I’d pay happily. I just haven’t seen a successful run of it for an app. The closest I can think of would be enterprise software like RHEL or ElasticSearch with paid support.
Isn’t that what YouTube is asking us to do? Pay a subscription fees for no ads. Unlike Netflix and Disney where you pay for ads.
I tried paying for YouTube but it wouldn't let me 🤷♂️
The thing about YouTube is that you are not really paying for any premium features, just paying NOT to see ads. To me that is not the same. If you ask for my money, provide some additional benefit besides not pushing your shitty attention hijacking crap on me.
Actually, you get higher bitrate videos, YouTube music premium is included, and the payout to creators you watch is close to 10x as much as they get from ad supported viewers.
Just sayin. 🥺
Vic that's not what I'm talking about. I mean intentional ad placement. What you did is just zapvertising and I can tolerate it ;) unless it becomes annoying somehow then it's a mute.
Marketers will be marketing to our personal ai instead of to us soon. Self host your ai gang
Not even Zapvertistment?
Never went back to Cable tv after Netflix!
