What is everyone's thoughts on free relays implementing rate limitng on obvious spammers? For example, a user will get blocked for a couple hours if they post too much at once. Is this a decent idea to remove spam from global, or does this take away from the idea of Nostr?

rate limiting by IP at intense throughput with exponential back off is better than rate limiting by pubkey
this should be aggressive thresholds though, if done; because, it shouldn't rate limit me from just commenting on everyone's post like i normally do
real spammers just create a new key pair for every message since that action is inexpensive
