Part of the reason 3rd party movements fail is because they try to take these inch by inch approaches. What could work is taking command and going big early, voters don’t take you seriously otherwise. Having minority blocking votes, even if successful, doesn’t do much beyond block certain legislation (which isn’t enough to get the US on the right track)— you won’t get anything proactive done unless you cut deals with the other two parties.
