everyone is focused on presidential politics, third parties usually get destroyed
his goal is likely congress not presidency, if he can get 10% of house and senate, he will have a lot of influence over legislation, very doable considering his $$$ and control of x

To put it in crass Silicon Valley terms, I think there's a branding problem. People voted for Trump either because they like the Fascism, or they don't like The Other One.
What does Elon actually stand for? "Donald Trump Was Right About Everything" said his hat.... Until he wasn't?
Also, if they put up a candidate, are you voting for the candidate, or for Elon? Are these candidates just going to say "I'm going to do whatever Elon wants" and that's their platform?
His goal is to be Trumpâs controlled opposition.
Part of the reason 3rd party movements fail is because they try to take these inch by inch approaches. What could work is taking command and going big early, voters donât take you seriously otherwise. Having minority blocking votes, even if successful, doesnât do much beyond block certain legislation (which isnât enough to get the US on the right track)â you wonât get anything proactive done unless you cut deals with the other two parties.
