First of all, I’d like to welcome you all to my new home, Star Fire! Plebs are always welcome. Without an official coast guard charter captain’s license, I can’t charge for your time aboard, no would I want to. Good company and great conversation is more than enough payment, for me.

Living on it full time ?

Very soon. I’m still stuck in a hotel until all this white shit goes away. But then, yes. As soon as I can get out of here, I’ll never let her get even one more snowflake on her deck.

Fantastic ! She looks a beaut 🤙🔥

Moody?

Good eye! Yes it is! I got lucky to find such a great boat at a great price!

WOW very nice! 😍😍

She cost 7.5% of the sale price of my house. I paid off all my debt and put the rest into cold storage! #IGMI when it’s time to go, it’s as simple as picking up the anchor.

Beautiful vessel! Our dream someday is to buy a boat and sail the world.

Followed for more posts about boats and sailing!

Radical!

Congrats on the #boatstr!

According to the US Naval Academy, here in Annapolis, the difference between a boat and a ship is, boats lean inwards when they turn and ships lean outwards. So technically it’s ship. #shipstr

I feel like I have stumbled onto a (also necessary for me) 🐇 🕳️

Congrats on the #shipstr! 😂

The definition I always used was, you can put a boat on a ship but you can’t put a ship on a boat, so when I tie my dingy to the deck, it meets those criteria too. Officially, there is no specific definition. Ship owner do tend to get more irritated by people calling their ship a boat than boaters do when you call their boat a ship. Then we get into the definition of what’s a yacht and what’s just a boat. That’s a whole different rabbit hole.

Webster defines a yacht as a small saint boat with living space below deck. However in the cruising world, a yacht under 50’ is just a boat…

Ultimately, whatever the captain says is law. I go through these with every souls that sails with me. If they have a problem with any of these, they stay on the dock!

Thanks for the info!

I don’t get irked about how people categorize my ⛵️ tbh … it’s all fun …

And yes, Captain says, passengers do … or else

I’d add a couple of commandments there … mostly regarding the toilets and flushing …

Beautiful. Lmk when you're in south Florida 🌞

wow that is a nice rig.

where dontiu sail her?

I did the Indian Ocean passage from Darwin, Australia to Richsrds Bay, Africa, in 1995, it was on a 39ft Herreshoff ketch ... there were four of us inboard, it was the wildest thing I've ever done.

goid on you 🦋

Hi Sarah, what size is your yacht? we were hoping to sail acriss from Panama to Colombia in mid May, wondering if you were keen. thete is giyr of us and happy to pay for cost of the passage plus cook and crew. there are four of us 😎💜

It’s 34’ (10.4m) But I’m stuck in Annapolis through winter. I missed my window to escape. This sets me back a whole year, but if I stay here through next summer, I’ll have a chance to get familiar with the boat and really have a chance to explore the Chesapeake.

That’ll also give me a chance to do the windward islands properly. So that’ll put me in Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and Columbia in summer of 2025.

I’d you’re trying to get there sooner, to crewfinder.com and cruisersforum.com. I’m sure there’s a bunch of boats already in you’re area.

Beautiful! Congrats!

Thanks!
