Do you automate it with LNDg?

Yes, LNDg is a massive part of my noderunning. It’s the one piece of software I literally couldn’t run my node without (After LND and Bitcoind of course!). But I have mostly backed away from automation in favor of manual control.

I have used automation in the past and it’s a great tool for hammock mode and minimal intervention strategy. I averaged about 3% over the past few months.

Lately my strategy has relied heavily on LOOP. The last two weeks fees (and volumes) are absolutely through the roof. With the new strategy I am having to do a lot more hands on approach, adjusting fees more often and managing much larger liquidity swings in both directions.

I actually would not run LNDG on a very active routing node. It's resource intensive. You really want to minimize disk reads/writes as much as possible and you can do this by sending events from LND to an external DB or application and doing all your analytics there.

Yeah that’s a great point- Especially on Postgres backend it can be a cpu hog with some of the rpc calls it makes. I have modified the code slightly to minimize the impact somewhat. Payments import are the heaviest load.

Good idea šŸ‘

Thank you for sharing! I’m keen to run a profitable node someday 🫔🫔
