Enjoyed The Card Counter and probably gonna go on a Paul Schrader binge after that. Need to rewatch First Reformed (2017), not seen his collab with Bret Easton Ellis, The Canyons (2013), or Hardcore (1979).

Not sure anything's gonna top First Reformed (2017) tho, but willing to give them a go.

Based on the trailer this one come across to me as a more mainstream and softer version of You were never really here with Joaquin Phoenix (also in this one - verrry good soundtrack by Greenwood). I might be wrong and will watch it for sure. Also agree - First reformed is a very special film. Do you sometimes have this odd hesitation before calling some films - a “film” or “movie” , bc these are much more than just films, more like experience, on whatever level ( intellectual, esthetic or emotional).

Yeah I see what you mean about 'I Was Never...', not sure it looks great either but I suppose he's always worth a watch.

Re: film/movie, I pretty much call everything and anything a film in real life, I usually say movie here cos everyone is American lol. But I believe there is more of this distinction over there. I would probably sound ridiculous saying 'movie' out loud irl. Although maybe I would use it with 'horror movies' maybe, or if it's in the title like 'the simpsons movie' or something lol, that might be the exception.

You have good taste. Are you on letterboxed?

I am but annoyingly it's under one of the usernames I use which is tied in with my irl username lol. And bitcoin makes me paranoid 🫨🫨🫨 lolol

Letterboxed don't let you change your username, unless I think you have a paid account 🙄🙄

I feel that

Hardcore is great. Did you ever see The Walker? I always thought that one was underrated - having a shallow, aging gay man as protagonist was a stroke of genius.

Not seen The Walker, I've not seen a fair amount of his films actually. Light Sleeper also looks good.
