yeah, mozilla is a tire fire and chromium is mostly shitty, the entire web platform for apps is a hellscape

it is time for real native GUI libraries to come back and since you like C i recommend imgui - it's pretty sweet now and i've worked with libraries based on this for Go and the experience is interesting and pleasant... just... you really need to make your code use atomic queues to load new data into the rendering pipelines and don't be silly and put logic in there!
