The authority of the State is unjust when it deviates from God’s natural law. We have not been given authority to write new laws.

Amen to that: "an unjust law is no law at all." And further, the civil and ceremonial laws which governed the ancient and theocratic State of Israel "expired together with the State of that people." [WCF 19](https://opc.org/wcf.html#Chapter_19). What ought to remain in force by a State is, you might say, only the "second table" of the moral law of God.
