If you are a libertarian, why do you care about which and how genders are available for people to self identify as?

I am a male identifying as a male so this is not directly impacting me, but all the recent gender talk on here made me think.

If my neighbour was self identifying as something else than male or female I couldn’t care less. They have the liberty and individual freedom to do whatever they want.

Why would libertarians care? Am I missing something?

1) I agree with you completely.

2) I think people are often upset when people try to ignore the XX or XY biological reality. Or try to force / coerce others to use certain language (pronouns) or use a threat of violence if you “misgender” them. This is strictly not libertarian.
