Patience was still a requirement of use, video hadn’t degraded our brains, influencers weren’t a thing, and it screamed at you for several seconds to warn you before connecting.

You would think twice before downloading a song from Napster, it would take a long time and you had to pay per minute of use. Information and time on the internet were a heavily paid and costly endeavor at the start. More proof of work and effort was put into the experience. Writing the first websites in notepad was a cost that would make you think twice about everything you did.
