Dismissing most nodes as irrelevant is both factually wrong and counterproductive to Bitcoin’s mission.
I'd like to try a node for either BTC or Lightning, but I just don't have a place to leave a dedicated computer running. Yeah, I suppose I could figure it out. I have an old Apple desktop.. I don't think a 10 year old computer would work, would it? I also think I'd need to subscribe to another phone line, since the router to our internet has 5 computers running to it.. So, paying for another internet line in, and a computer & everything I'd need to have for the node starts to get daunting to a dweeb with no computer tech knowledge what so ever!! What a sob story. Someday maybe.

You can run bitcoin on a raspberry pi so a 10 year old computer is just fine.
