Hah I'm not that generous to be zap rate limited. The client is amethyst and wallet is coinos.

Interesting. I've changed the redirect to CoinOS for now, let me know if it helps.

Someone really needs to write a solution to fall back between Lightning services, because no matter what, your main wallet will always be broken for someone lol.

That works now. I will eventually move from coinos but that is one of 49 other "self-sovereignty" jobs. πŸ˜†

Got the Zap, many thanks! ⚑

I skimmed through the last sentence earlier and somehow missed it.

Good luck with your setup. I gave up on non-custodial Lightning myself. My node has been down for a couple of months, and I may nuke it altogether soon. For my specific needs, managing channels is too much overhead and ultimately a loss-maker.

Deep respect to the cypherpunks out there providing liquidity to the network, I appreciate you. But Nostr is already my "time consuminy loss-making activity for the greater good". I'm happy with custodial Lightning for zapping folks, and despite being annoyed when CoinOS or similar services decide to freeze my sats, I have never lost SATs and I'm okay with the risks. Any real amounts quickly get moved to a cold wallet in the Accioly household anyway πŸ˜….

Oh I didn't want to give the impression of being a maxi. I'm fully in agreement that lightning channel management is not worth the effort for end user wallets with $100.

You didn’t at all. Plus, despite my usual commentary on Maxis and Nostr Influencers, I have nothing against them. I just keep repeating myself because folks keep losing money with stuff like Alby Hub and quitting Nostr, so I take every opportunity I have to say that custodial wallets holding a few hundred sats aren’t the end of the world 🀣🀣🀣

i got rugged by an alby LP too (unilateral close). didnt realise it was common

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, their channel management is atrocious.

My main problem with Alby is that folks keep pushing new users to Alby Go without telling them the full story. The happy new user then obtains a Lightning address, gets zapped (under Alby's custody), and those sats end up locked to pay for Alby services.

Then the new user, who knows nothing about Lightning, has to choose between:

1. Installing Alby Hub locally and praying it works, then paying to open their first Lightning channels

2. Buying a monthly cloud subscription from Alby

3. Getting out of Nostr and venting on the Fediverse or elsewhere that Nostr is just another cryptobro scam

Guess which option they usually pick? And I can't blame them either. I’d think exactly the same if I were in their shoes.
