Your side of this argument is contradictory.

If it is true that users will always check the code and write their own settings anyway, why haven’t the majority of nodes already removed the limit?

The RBF is the perfect example, it was enabled by users manually, and AFTER consensus was reached- the default setting in core was changed.

This default setting change is happening without adoption- which means it is being forced by core dev dictators.
