Look, here's the thing: if a state does decide to secede than it will undoubtedly cause some issues with regulation, travel, certainly some economic issues etc. But, I doubt it would lead to some kind of open military conflict of any sort. The borders are too close and families are spread all across the country.

Exactly. Having an opposing military force that is that large, powerful, and close to major populations can, and most likely will, have adverse and detrimental effects.

A fair point. But, large portions of the population will, without a doubt, have diverse opinions. We can't stop that. Secession shouldn't be thrown off the table, IMHO. We'll see.
