I don't encounter this much, at least not where I live. Today, I spoke with a woman with a son in Scientology. What she told me about that cult (which is exactly what it is) was horrifying. It seems he gave them almost all his life savings and is now cutting off friends and family. I've heard about Scientology off and on through the years but never spoke to anyone connected to someone in that cult. It truly is horrifying.
