I have a rule if anyone in my close circle is struggling mentally or going through a crisis, I pay for 3-5 sessions of therapy.

If you have the resources I suggest you do the same. It’s actually an investment in my mental clarity by minimizing attention traps.

The more I can pull speed bumps forward so they don’t become road blocks, the more efficient and effective I can be with my time.

What’s better:

-family member struggles, then lets their life go to shit, causing drama and problems in the people closest to you, you have to run through the emotional shrapnel

-family member is struggling, you offer to pay for counseling and coaching which equips them with tools to help avoid crisis

I know I struggle with controlling everything, and this may be one of those things … but I think I prefer an optimally harmonious environment surrounding me rather than just ignoring everything or spending copious time to help resolve issues personally.

One issue though is most of the people in my life can't afford continuing therapy sessions & it's too expensive to pay for everyone's human therapy.

Is there a good AI tool for this sort of therapy, a tool for equipping people how to deal with their issues better?

A thought came to mind reading this post... Bitcoin liberates your future time by preserving your time preference into the future... Interesting idea! The first bit. I would not send a close friend or family member to some bot that hallucinates them into murdering me :-)

Its my experience that everyone needs human connection, as well as someone to confide in to work through issues.

Very few people get that to a beneficial level.

Unfortunately AI is still rather cold and confidentiality isnt well assured.

Meditation may often help

No good AI therapy as yet. Because so much of what’s effective has been shown to be qualities that AI cannot mimick. Though it’s possible AI can assist in goal setting.

When I was at my lowest ebb of live I went through 9 months of therapy. Which helped. Then I did a four day breathwork/meditation retreat. I found it 10x more effective than the 9 months of therapy. It also cost a lot less. I ended the therapy the next week with thanks for his service which had still been useful. Never looked back, and the symptoms of anxiety and depression I had never returned.

I tried Wim Hof also as well as another couple. They were all good. Wim Hof I found the best at increasing physical endurance. But I was looking more for something to enhance what you might call “executive function” (decision making, focus, concentration, empathy, deeper meditations, general ability to be a calm captain in the face of any weather). For that I found Art of Living’s sky breathing to be the most effective.

SKY breathing (sudarshan kriya & yoga breathing) is amazing for that (and other things). I used to get panic attacks, so I really noticed a big difference after doing it - I stopped having them completely. Courses are affordable too and they run in most centres around the world. I was about to give up when i decided to try something radical, praying to Christ for help. I was anti religion at the time. He answered my prayers and turned my whole life around. I've now become a believer. Just finished reading the whole Bible.

I wish i had got over my judgments of it earlier. Religion had stained my judgments of Christianity. The Bible however is FULL of life changing, Godly wisdom.
