GM. I think I asked this but what’s the reason Nostr doesn’t like key delegation?

I sure want to know. It would solve a lot of issues for commercialization or organizational use.

I know it requires clients to implement support correctly and that could be a huge obstacle I guess … I’ll make a proof of concept tonight.

Yes

Yeah everyone kinda realized it was a mistake. I think nostr:nprofile1qqspwwwexlwgcrrnwz4zwkze8rq3ncjug8mvgsd96dxx6wzs8ccndmcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgcwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8xmn0wf6zuum0vd5kzmqpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2uctyqxu5 is working on a key management solution that is much more promising right Jefe?

Wen?

Keycast! It's already a thing: https://github.com/erskingardner/keycast

Cool. Doesn’t seem to be like an easy solution for individuals given the hosting requirements and all.

Nope. It’s made for teams specifically. All remote signing will need an always online device though.

😔

That might be a protocol breaker :(

Why? Seems to be working super well everywhere so far…

Where?

All of NIP-46 is about remote signing. So apps like Amber, Keycast, originally nsec bunker and nostr:nprofile1qqs8nsk2uy2w529fs8n4tx60u7z553e4yx5dy2nxhw4elgjgawpqlaspz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43q4hag5n has a CLI tool that can help as well.

Mistake what? What exact and concrete evidence there is to call it a mistake? None was given, just “trust me bro, it’s bad”

You are welcome to read the PR discussions if you want to understand why. I'm just trying to give a fair warning against implementing someone nobody will likely use.

Gm Karnage! Curious too as I think it’d be help for wider and safer adoption

I have no idea

It adds a huge amount of complexity on all layers.

Could you give one example

I not have much knowledge on cryptography, but from my understand. If you main key is A, you created some delegated keys X, Y and Z, then you published some notes which each keys.

When other users want to find your notes, they need to get its from all pubkeys of A, X, Y, Z 🤔

He would agree.

Did you check the recent efforts around this?:

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1837

No. I’m not in the weeds of any development tbh. Just hacking around in spare time

That's fine. It's just that the answers to your question are in there.
