Run it through Amethyst via Tor/Orbot setup and as long as you have Orbot app downloaded, on Android it actually doesn't need to take up the VPN slot, which is very cool, so one can keep an always-on VPN connected with Killswitch engaged, independent of, and in addition to the usage of Orbot.
Do you have Orbot downloaded as its own app, or does Amethyst have a built-in version?
If the former, you should be able to run Orbot as a “vpn” for the phone and all of your amethyst traffic would presumably run through that, without even needing to touch the Amethyst settings.
At least as far as I understand it. Let’s see whether nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka might fact-check me on this lol 🙏🫂
Discussion
Just set the Orbot app to auto-connect on reboot.
I was running this for a while. But the battery usage was so intensive I couldn't realistically make it work 😬 is this normal?
OP nostr:nprofile1qqs8d5jes2cgcefqd93f4nvaeuyw5fdwlwye5cv6arq3wl9ust44x6gppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0strcrl, to answer your question...It is irregular for Amethyst to not retain Tor/Orbot settings. It's the first I've heard of it and haven't experienced it.
What version of Amethyst are you using? Is it from GitHub or Google Play? How old is your Android?
Do you have Orbot installed and operational?
