Ugh. For 2.5 years I've been running an Umbrel node and it's worked fantastically. It does everything I want it to do, at least until now.

It's becoming overly apparent that I need to rebuild a node from scratch to be able to do the things I want to do.

I did this about a year ago. I built an LND node and then a CLN node.

I'll probably go with LND again because I am most familiar with it and it seems to have the largest amount of support out there.

Building a proper server-like machine pays off in the long run. Multiple RAID disks and a UPS. Some server distro and there's a node for the next decade or so.

yeah, this is my biggest issue with my current setup. there's no RAID and eventually this sdd is going to fail. storage devices have a 100% failure rate. 😉 plus, my Pi 4 will be 4 years old in June. who knows how long that thing will last.

SD cards fail surprisingly often too. But that's luckily not as big of an issue as one might think with everything on the ssd.

i had an SD card fail at some point over the past year. it was an easy fix. just flashed the image and booted right back up like nothing ever happened.
