To be clear, blocking from “display in your timeline” is not the same as blocking from “consuming your content”.
On Nostr, to block someone from consuming your authored content would require you to post it in a private context. This can be a private relay, an encrypted DM, or a private encrypted group (nips for this are being developed). Either of which “you” can own or manage (this will get better).
To your point, this is not the same as “blocking” an individual from consuming your otherwise public content. Nostr prolly won’t ever have that feature.
Personally, if tools for creating private contexts in nostr are improved, I don’t actually see a problem with public content being public for ALL. If you don’t want to post publicly for “all” then post privately for “some”.
Nostr is not the platform for “selective public” publication. And that is OK.
