Three people in the last week have told me I look young. What’s that even mean? What defines age? Is it based on knowledge of situations or events? Perhaps the brief period in time when people see you with your best face forward?
Pretty sure there’s no wrong answers here and I’m curious to hear your thoughts. What, to you, defines someone as young or old?
I think that like a lot of “simple” things that are actually hard to precisely define and not discrete, perception of youth vs. age involves the overall impression of a lot of different features.
Attitude, posture, sound of voice, hair color and texture, complexion and skin texture, weight distribution on the body, style of clothes, makeup, hair, countless other cultural factors are involved.
What a great answer! I agree with this, there are many things I think, that contribute to defining one’s age.
