The CDU's proposal to control the border to prevent the entry of new illegal immigrants has not passed the German Bundestag. The idea was to do it before the elections, because after the elections there will be negotiations that could last for months. The CDU was counting on the support of the far-right AfD and the liberal FDP. If all three parties had voted in full, they would have had the necessary majority.

However, the liberals voted like this: 67 in favor, 2 against, 5 abstentions and as many as 16 did not show up.

And now the citizens on X are massively blaming the FDP for the failure of the proposal. This is a very important issue for Germans and will be decisive in the elections. The FDP has fallen from the last election, when it won 12 percent of the vote, to its current 3 percent according to the polls and may not cross the threshold in the elections.

This is the time for the nationalist right. It is not the time for the liberals. People are too excited.
