I'm guessing it has to be enabled by going to their account settings in a browser or the Square app on their phone, and not in the POS.
Just went to my local coffee spot. They have a square terminal and asked if they accept bitcoin. He said that I sss the first one that ever asked them about it. He tried looking where to enable it but couldn’t figure it out.
Where is the settings to enable for retail users? nostr:npub17xu3rtcu0ftqw03mswa8a2ngz3nsgrs0h0wjv4z942qwvhp8fs3qzcadls I know you had an issue figuring that out as well

Yeah, deep in the settings but the kicker is that they need to swap from retail to standard mode. Most shops won’t be able to do that on demand as it would require them to update their inventory there as well.
I really hope square does some educating around this and fixes the issue! I turned on Bitcoin payments for my business but couldn’t see it at checkout because my square app was configured to services.
Seems to be a simple fix!
I’m sure it is. I just wanna make sure they are aware of the issue. Hopefully enough annoyed business owners are calling their tech support and complaining about it 😆
They have a whole-ass Youtube playlist, guys https://www.youtube.com/@square/search?query=bitcoin
Then why couldn’t he pay in Bitcoin at his coffee shop 😆
You mean you just watched the video in 3 minutes? It showed how to access the POS setup
That is not the issue, the issue is that merchant that have inventory will never switch to simply POS mode just to get bitcoin payment. Bitcoin payments should be made available by Square in any mode. Including retail and services.
Show it to the merchants
