Go into settings>checkout>payment types> bitcoin
It’s not as easy as that! That’s simply to turn it on. But the square app also needs to be in POS standard mode for Bitcoin to show up at checkout. If it’s in retail mode or any other it won’t show up!!

yea i'm running into this - i've got bitcoin enabled for the account and it works for the POS app but not the Square for Retail app, which is what this store requires (complex inventory system, etc.)
It’s wild to me they haven’t thought of enabling this for every mode?!! Feels like a big oversight on part of the team. Nothing that an update can’t fix but for now it’s a big, big hurdle. Even though you can still get your Bitcoin conversions.

I'm guessing it has to be enabled by going to their account settings in a browser or the Square app on their phone, and not in the POS.
Yeah, deep in the settings but the kicker is that they need to swap from retail to standard mode. Most shops won’t be able to do that on demand as it would require them to update their inventory there as well.
I really hope square does some educating around this and fixes the issue! I turned on Bitcoin payments for my business but couldn’t see it at checkout because my square app was configured to services.

That is not the issue, the issue is that merchant that have inventory will never switch to simply POS mode just to get bitcoin payment. Bitcoin payments should be made available by Square in any mode. Including retail and services.
