I wish NZ banks offered mortgages fixed for the whole term. We can only fix for 5 years. I'm at 5.88% floating and it jumps by 3% next year to 8.88% after my special discount expires (if the OCR doesn't change).
Same in Canada. Many people will be refinancing at much higher rates. Massive ticking time bomb.
