First of all, thats funny stuff :D

Second, its not the same. we are in the business of decentralizing stuff, not pointing at a server.

The nip above, maps gifs to your blossom server (if you want). if media provider goes down, your notes wont lose the gif, because you can recreate the map and point it to another source.

Gif button talks to tenor or giphy, a centralized solution.

This is a situation where devs are letting the perfect become the enemy of the good. Nothing of lasting value is lost if a gif happens to get rugged some time after you’ve posted it.
