For 500s in a very tight panel, yes.

That’s fair, probably not enough room for the correct bend radius. I still would have liked to see a bit less bare copper at the terminals; very easy for that stuff to short circuit over time. Next time just trim a bit less of the jacket off and shove it down a bit more so the jacket basically butts up against the terminal.

I smell what you're stepping in. The arcing issue i beg to differ, for the factories I've worked in where half an inch or more is exposed, on terminations that i have been around for 40+ years, I'm given to believe what's here is minimal risk. The bolts wouldn't allow me to land any deeper tho I do have the same note often so fair.

That said, i recently heard of two linemen who basically got vaporized while doing everything by the book. No cause was ever found. Modern electrical theory is indeed still theory.
