Hi Nostriches

2 question to anyone that is an expert on LN

1. What is the easiest way to have non custodial lightning wallet that can have an address that looks like email address so it's easy to remember?

Is there a way? Preferably for a not so techie person

2. Is having custodial lightning wallet is equivalent like storing your BTC on a crypto exchange?

Still wondering about this. If anyone can help to answer

1 is not easy yet.

2 yes, although there are still some KYC-free options. But the Bitcoin keys and Lightning node are managed entirely by the custodian, so you could be rugged at any time. I use custodial Lightning wallets for small amounts (like zapping around on nostr, now). I use a non-custodial wallet (Phoenix is a good option, if you don't run CLN or LND) for larger amounts and self-custody. But again you won't easily get the LN address (“email”) this way.

Thanks a lot #[3]

Btw there is an error saying "couldn't resolve user LNURL address, so I can't zap I"

1: probably spin up your own BTCPay Server on Luna Node (there are guides, google it) and attach your own domain to the BTCPay Server. BTCPay server support’s lightning addresses so you you can create your lightning address and receive payments there. Since you want it non custodial, you need to open channels with other nodes and buy from some service inbound channels so that you can receive sats in your node. Running and managing a lightning node it’s not super easy unfortunately.

2. Sort of, yeah, you are trusting someone else with your money. They can display a certain balance and actually not have the sats. There are indirect ways to audit, but it’s always trusting someone else with your money.

Thank you!. Zapped
