I got the taste for raw hamburger as a kid. Whenever my dad was cooking, he'd get really fresh ground beef from the butcher, and as he was preparing the meal, he'd break off meatball-sized chunks of the raw meat, sprinkle it with salt, and eat it like a little snack.

Of course I wanted to try it, because I wanted to do everything my dad did, and I immediately loved it. My dad's gone now, but I still do the same thing when I'm cooking with ground beef. I've found that getting really fresh meat from a great butcher is the key. I'd never do it with grocery store meat. It's a small thing that makes me feel closer to my father.

That’s awesome. Yeah I think people should try this when they’re young because it’s so good. Most adults I tell about this get grossed out.

We were pretty adventurous in my house. My mother especially was obsessed with making me try new foods. Her go-to line was, "How do you know you don't like it if you never tried it?" Now, I'm glad they pushed me to try new things whenever the opportunity presented. It not only introduced me to a lot of different foods, but the mindset of being open and eager to try new things.

I think being open minded is a precursor to intelligence and growth

I can’t have raw, not even slightly raw as Kidney transplant.

But even if I could the animal would have to be all slaughtered and meat cleaned in front of me to consider it

Is your kidney compromised?
