I think a fruit tree would be very cool.
Very cool yeah. The citrus one is pretty nice.
But I think for my first one I'm gonna go with something a bit less "exotic". Buddha Pine is like choosing Bulbasaur.
Ficus make great first bonsai. They grow very fast and are difficult to kill as long as you them warm and wet.
