We need private aliases. This way we can create temporary identities for subscribing to these things that we can throw away.
Why private? I don't want people to know which account is the main one.
Would be a cool feature if it could generate a fake name and image too.
You can create burner npub and do that way 😉
Yeah, but imagine a built in alias manager specifically for this purpose that creates a throwaway subscription user with 1 click and lets you throw it away or silence it whenever you want.
And no simplelogin account or any account whatsoever.
Yes, something like an HD priv key generation.
Interesting, I imagined that a client would listen for notes on these other pubkeys though, we can't be having gaps like we do for bitcoin wallets, it would be wasteful.
I think it is simpler to just randomly generate npubs so we don't have to detect reuse and we should put the npubs in a private list so the client can be direct about what notes it is searching for.
Also when searching, it shouldn't batch because that would be a privacy issue but conversely, you only leak this to your relays so maybe it isn't so bad.
