But that's a bug, not a feature.

Since anyone at all can "verify" Nostr addresses, it's not a form of verification at all.

It's better not to contribute to this problem and to inform people that NIP-05 is not verification.

That said, an address does have some features, which you mention.

What I think one might wonder (and I do wonder) is what a paid (even if cheap) provider has to offer compared to a free one.

Please, stop misleading users into thinking that NIP-05 addresses verify anything. They do not, they are not supposed to.

Clients should stop displaying checkmarks next to name accounts that happen to have an address and providers shouldn't imply they are verifiers.
